I grew up in wonderful Copenhagen, the capitol of Denmark (and the Paris of Scandinavia, if you ask me). My father was a politician and policeman, and my mother worked part-time as a nurse. It was a safe childhood, surrounded by pets, love, friends… and a big bunch of musical instruments.

One thing I definitely got from my dad is my love of music. He has always been collecting al sorts of instruments, only – much to our regret – he has never really learned to play them properly (combined with his embarrassingly poor taste in music, that makes for a pretty “cachophonic” cocktail).

At age 9 I was accepted into a special school for musically gifted children, There I became a soloist in The Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir – and the foundation of my musicality and future career was laid.

Once a rock star...?
